Synkroniciti is thrilled to welcome Polish visual artist Beata Króliczak-Zajko with three stunning macroformat portrait prints, measuring 150 cm (just under 5 ft) square, from her TRACES series. TRACES consists of two categories of images: Evidence of non-existence, comprised of friends of the artist, and Evidence of existence, comprised of famous people who have influenced culture. The latter are more recognizable and have power of concept, idea and quote. They become archetypes that show us who we are and who we would like to be. The non-existent, three of which we have selected for “Identity,” have an intimacy that shows a wider range of emotion and physicality. They remain human rather than becoming symbols.
“The paradox is that we are often more influenced by those we do not know than the people who are near us. Our personal connections, visceral and emotional as they may be, are ephemeral. TRACES is an attempt to record the presence of other Persons who create our reality. Sometimes the greatest influences on us are the people we have never met in reality…They are more present than the people who have been part of our lives for years. we as people, as artists, are always unfair…“
