Featured Artist: Mariana Mcdonald

Synkroniciti is overjoyed to welcome poet and writer Mariana Mcdonald from Atlanta, Georgia with two poems, Goose and Carrier Pigeons, which explore the connections between birds and humans, from the humorous to the noble. Birds are often at the edges of our consciousness but here they are center stage and teach us a great deal about ourselves.

Mariana Mcdonald is a poet, writer, scientist, and activist. Her poetry has appeared in Crab Orchard Review, Lunch Ticket, The New Verse News, Les Femmes Folles, Southern Women’s Review, Poetry in Flight, Fables of the Eco-future, The Poet, Stone Sea and Sky, and Anthology of Southern Poets: Georgia, among others. She co-authored with Margaret Randall the recently-released Dominga Rescues the Flag, the story of Black Puerto Rican heroine Dominga de la Cruz. Mcdonald trained with Al Gore in 2019 and became part of the international Climate Reality Leadership Corps. She lives in Atlanta, where she loves watching birds and their antics in her backyard.
