Synkroniciti is glad to welcome back poet, writer and photographer Denise Bossarte of Houston, with three photographs exploring the quiet side of dignity.
“Aging Gracefully #8,” runner-up in our cover contest, and “Aging Gracefully #19” are close studies of rust that reveal the unexpected beauty of aged metal and, metaphorically, the beauty of beings as they grow older. The bubbling surface of #8 recalls wrinkles, while #19 focuses on places where metal joins metal, evoking the structure and resilience of human joints and hinting at how we weather transition. “Ripples of Peace” provides a gentle counterpoint, depicting water flowing from a bamboo pipe into a stone vessel. While the rust images suggest water’s transformative effect on metal over time, here water remains active and life-giving, gathering in a quiet pool. The image brings us the restorative calm of a garden fountain and feeds our impulse to shelter, preserve, and sustain life.
Beautifully cropped and thoughtfully observed, these photographs testify to Denise’s perceptive eye and her ability to discover meaningful parallels in ordinary subjects. All three images share an autumnal, reflective palette that invites contemplation.

Denise Bossarte is an award-winning author, poet, photographer, and visual artist whose passion is inspiring others. Her photography is in the Buddhist Contemplative Photography tradition, Miksang. She has been a practitioner of Miksang photography for 15 years and a Miksang teacher for over 12 years.
She enjoys writing, exploring new art forms, and teaching contemplative photography workshops. She lives in Texas with her husband and literary cat, Za’ Ji.
