Winner of “Birds” Essay Contest: Field Notes from when the World was Ending, Sara Collie

Synkroniciti is pleased to select “Field Notes from when the World was Ending” by Sara Collie as our essay contest winner and look forward to publishing this beautiful and thoughtful reflection on the COVID-19 quarantine in our upcoming September 1st issue. Sara uses nature, birds specifically, as a frame of reference and unifying force to interpret an experience shared, with countless variations, by people all over the globe. What does nature tell us about looking after one another, about renewal and transformation, and about mortality?
