Synkroniciti is pleased to welcome visual artist Robert Fleming of Delaware with cyclops under lily pads, an imaginative digitally manipulated photograph that takes us back to childhood.
“I create photography and digital art using a digital Nikon camera and the computer software Canva and Windows Editor. I created a digital art series starting with a photo of a pond’s brown bottom and surface’s green lily pads. This particular image employs impressionism using the Canva edits liquify and wobble. The wobble converted the shape of the lily pads from round to boomerang and arranged them in a circle, also converting the pond bottom earth to a circle resembling an eye. I am imagining a new species: a cyclops under a pond’s lily pads.”
The brilliant blue and chartreuse that dominate the image dance across the murky browns and blacks that conceal the monster, and light and shadow play across all of the colors, bending in unexpected ways. We feel sucked into the center spiral where the beast awaits.
