Synkroniciti is thrilled to present the first Featured Artist of our tenth issue, “Transcend,” Karen Boissonneault-Gauthier. In addition to “Stars,” which won our contest and graces our cover with a blissful childlikeness drawn from her experience star-gazing with her son, we feature two more digital images, “Red Flower” and “Finding the Light.” The first expresses human connection with nature, how nature is intertwined with our being and cannot be separated from us. The second celebrates human desire to reach for what cannot be grasped or attained, for what lies beyond. A blazing sense of wonder aided by a lively sense of color and composition illuminate Karen’s playful work which we find deeply moving. Her images will be accompanied by an article that will let you know a little more about her process and creative work.

Karen Boissonneault-Gauthier is a Canadian indigenous photographer and visual artist. The stars aligned and her determination to be published in Synkroniciti rewarded her with their cover. Finally! When she’s not walking her Siberian Husky under the Northern Lights, she designs with Art of Where. Her other covers include The Feeel Magazine, Doubleback Review, Arachne Press, Pretty Owl Poetry, Wild Musette, Existere Journal, Vine Leaves Literary Journal, Gigantic Sequins and Ottawa Arts Journal, among others. Karen has also been featured in Vox Popular Media Arts Festival, Bracken Magazine, Zoetic Press, New Feathers Anthology, Maintenant 15, Parliament Lit, and Pure in Heart Stories to name but a few. A small leap of faith to submit her work often surpasses her expectations.
