Synkroniciti is elated to welcome playwright Allison Fradkin with a comic romp about the intersection of female sexuality and conservative Christianity, a delightfully mischievous play called “Holy Inappropriate.” Mary Jo is bringing up three daughters in the Christian Patriarchy Movement, but she knows more than she is saying. How do we balance faith with intelligence? Repression isn’t necessary for faith–you don’t need to be repressed to be blessed–and ignorance and misinformation are no protection against suffering and exploitation. We owe it to younger generations to remove taboos on sexual education and give people the tools to make decisions. Allison uses humor and wit to open up minds and hearts.

Read Allison’s hilarious, ribald and instructive play in our “Empowered” issue of our online magazine, available here. You can subscribe or order the issue, which debuted September 1, 2022.

Allison Fradkin delights in applying her Women’s & Gender Studies education to the creation of satirically scintillating plays that (sur)pass the Bechdel Test and enlist their characters in a caricature of the idiocies and intricacies of insidious isms. An enthusiast of inclusivity and accessibility, Fradkin freelances for her hometown of Chicago as Literary Manager of Violet Surprise Theatre, curating new works by queer playwrights; and as Dramatist for Special Gifts Theatre, adapting scripts for actors of all abilities.

Allison’s wholly appropriate auxiliary activities include vintage shopping, volunteering, and tending to her thespian tendencies.
