“Belonging” Featured Artist Ed Davis

Synkroniciti is happy to welcome Ohio poet and writer Ed Davis with “CRASH,” a narrative poem recounting his experience helping a senior woman through a blood sugar crash at the grocery store. It’s a testament to the good in people, as a team of strangers assembles–every bit as miraculous and coordinated as superheroes–to care for her in these few moments of panic. “Finally, our fallen one stands and we/ accompany her to her car, while we/ new brothers and sisters in arms/ read each other’s eyes,/ glimpse our future…”  Ed’s artistry is understated and conversational but powerful as he witnesses how kindness extends a safety net through communities. He invites us not only to notice, but to be a part of the process, which we will all need eventually.

Ed Davis has immersed himself in writing and contemplative practices since retiring from college teaching. A much-published prose writer, he sometimes calls poetry his side hustle but wonders if that’s actually true or whether poetry might be closer to his soul. Time of the Light, his poetry collection, was released by Main Street Rag Press in 2013.

He lives with his wife and three wild kitties in the village of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and can often be found roaming trails in nearby Glen Helen Nature Preserve, part of which has recently been transformed by occupying beavers into a brand new wetland.
