Synkroniciti is honored to select Texan poet David Estringel’s “Fireflies” as the winner of our “Transcend” poetry contest. Lush and vulnerable, “Fireflies” invites us to gaze in wonder at the joy of childhood–that brief time when we are carefree and unaware of sorrow. Hope, memory and regret weave themselves together in a bittersweet tribute to playfulness. David’s poetry is full of sensual music that celebrates the simple miracles of being alive, all the while acknowledging the agony of their inevitable passing.
DAVID ESTRINGEL holds a B.A. in English. His poetry and short fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in online and print publications, such as the North Meridian Review, Setu Bilingual Journal, Azahares Literary Magazine, Route 7 Review, The Blue Nib, Pif Magazine, Cutthroat: A Journal of the Arts, Latin Anthology, Rigorous Magazine, Bosphorus Review, Lahar Magazine, Synkroniciti Magazine, The Bitchin’ Kitsch, Cajun Mutt Press, and Drunk Monkeys.
