This live performance of My Name from the album The Living Road shows the marvelous poetry and voice of Lhasa de Sela. Her intimate and warm delivery, both gentle and sultry, is moving beyond words, as is her ability to illuminate the beauty that continues to shine through pain.

Lhasa de Sela, often known simply as Lhasa, was an international spirit. The singer-songwriter was born in New York state, raised in Mexico and the United States and lived her adult life in Canada and France. She was the recipient of a Félix Award and a Juno Award and was honored by BBC Radio 3 as the Best World Music Artist of the Americas for 2005. Her albums, La Llorona, The Living Road, and Lhasa are testament to her talent and her sensual voice. In 2009, about the same time Lhasa was released, she was diagnosed with cancer. Lhasa died on New Years Day 2010 at the age of thirty-seven.
Adieu, Lhasa. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
