Lost Egyptian City Found Underwater After 1200 Years

Beautiful post from Twisted Sifter about the lost Mediterranean city of Thonis-Heracleion which sank into the sea 1200 years ago and was rediscovered by archaeologist Franck Goddio and the European Institute for Underwater Archaeology in 2000. Our cities are by no means permanent, but they do leave marks if you know where to look. It is fantastic to see the effects of a sea-change upon statues and structures.
