Look and Listen #10: El Anatsui, Gravity and Grace at the Akron Art Museum, 2012

Ghanian artist El Anatsui makes monumental installations from aluminum bits… bottle caps, can lids and more. He has a team of twenty to thirty men who help him assemble his creations, from the smallest units to the big blocks that come together to make sheets, which drape beautifully as well as being light and transportable.
This is from a 2012 showing at the Akron Art Museum in Ohio, USA.
“Artist El Anatsui visited the Akron Art Museum in preparation for world premiere of “Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui” in June 2012. Watch breathtaking footage and hear from Anatsui about his art, processes and influences.
