Synkroniciti is excited to welcome Denise Bossarte of Houston, Texas. Denise is a polymath with broad experience in writing and visual arts; we welcome her in “Haunting” as a photographer with three pieces steeped in the Miksang tradition, a Buddhist contemplative form seeking to fully engage the artist’s mind, eye and emotional core to look at the world in a new way.
“My photography practice involves wandering a space to see what images ‘find me.’ It is a way of being open to what shows up in the moment without an agenda and appreciating beauty, however it manifests.”
“Galaxy Merger,” “Ensō Duet,” and “Heuristic Alchemy” are photographs depicting discarded material which had lain beneath other items being spray-painted. Despite being “trash” and thoroughly unintended works of art, the accidental patterns are beautiful and have a contemplative, meditative quality. Circles play and approach one another and ghostly shapes dance before our eyes. In a time when our visual stimuli are carefully curated to market to our expectations and desires, Denise shows us a different way of seeing, a way that is sustainable and contributes to personal growth and freedom.
See Denise’s eye-opening photography and be surprised by beauty in Synkroniciti’s “Haunting” issue, available for pre-order here: https://synkroniciti.com/the-magazine/purchase-individual-issues/.
