Welcome back artist and poet Yolanda Movsessian, a local Houstonian, with “Flame,” an atmospheric photograph we have paired with Joan Leotta’s poem, “A Candle Wick Transforms, Transcends.” We were astonished that these two works came in together and pleased with the synchronicity. Yolanda’s words and images have graced our pages several times (2:1, 2:2, 2:4) and it is always a pleasure to see what direction she will take, from deeply heartfelt and expressive poetry to abstract digital art to symbolist words and images that get at the nooks and crannies of the human psyche.
Come and see Yolanda’s artistic photograph. You can purchase our “Transcend” issue, Vol. 3, No. 4, or subscribe here. The issue is now available online as of November 30th.
Yolanda Movsessian is an Armenian born in Iran who currently lives in Houston, TX, USA. Now that she has survived the adventures of raising her three magnificent children (and they have survived her) she spends her free time living a more impromptu life writing, drawing and playing with her camera. You can often find her contemplating life and poetry and plotting ways to steal her daughter’s beautiful velveteen Siberian cat over a cup of mocha latte infused with cayenne pepper.
