Synkroniciti is excited to welcome artist Rita Deutsch who opens our upcoming issue with a whimsical illustration and poem full of childlike wonder and innocence, The Bird in My Hair. This touching piece is from a series called You’re Safe With Me, which speaks to the human responsibility to protect and treasure the fantastic and often overlooked beings that share our planet. Animals have so much to teach us about life untinged by the human propensity to overthink or rationalize things.
If you would like to see this heart-warming work, please subscribe or purchase the issue here.
Rita Deutsch is an illustrator, born and raised in New York City. Rita studied at the High School of Art & Design in Manhattan, received her BA from Brooklyn College where she studied anatomy, figure drawing and secondary education.
She attended Barry University in Miami, where she received her MSW. Rita worked as an artist designing wall covering as well as an illustrator for children’s wear in NYC. Her artwork delves into the innocence of childhood, the love of animals, the attachment of the young and their beloved pets.
Her artwork depicts the love of line with simplicity by the use of colored pencil, pen and ink, always keeping beside her inspiration from her art heroes Andrew Wyeth, Aubrey Beardsley and Matisse. The series most dear to her is her artwork called You’re Safe with Me, illustrating the love of sentient beings, their trust in our devoted care. Currently, she is exhibiting at the Broward County Public Libraries, in galleries in Fort Lauderdale ( Broward Art Guild, Gold Coast Watercolor Society), to name a few. She is teaching art privately to both children and adults and is a practicing psychotherapist.
Please follow Rita online via her website, Facebook and Instagram.
