Synkroniciti is excited to welcome back writer and poet Kathy McVittie from Scotland. Her earthy voice is featured in “Wort-shop,” a poem that digs into the ground of the creative urge. How many of us, after an extended period of resisting and even shaming our creativity, have worried that we won’t have enough time to see our creations grow? Taking a breath and acknowledging the presence of fear, Kathy leads us to a place of roots and nurturing darkness, accompanied by her mythic sense of rhythm and rhyme.
Experience Kathy’s resonant imagery in the new issue of Synkroniciti, “Flow.” You can subscribe or purchase the issue here: https://synkroniciti.com/the-magazine/.
Kathy Labrum McVittie is a biologist, life-writing companion and dancer, straddling the imaginal and the seen. She’s fretted the dilemmas of genetics, global resources, waste, and ethical recycling since the 1970s.
In 2020 she joined The Way of the Buzzard in north-west England, using their core shamanic toolkit to earth her voice. She is assembling her second poetry collection: “grace notes” and recovering from breast cancer.
From Synkroniciti’s “Ritual” Issue, which is available here: https://synkroniciti.com/the-magazine/purchase-individual-issues/ (look for Jack Freedman’s beautiful “Cauldron” cover), is Kathy’s poem, “Beyond the Rite.”
