Synkroniciti is excited to welcome North Carolina poet, author and performer Joan Leotta. Her poem, Sunroom Visitor, lets us experience a moment of vulnerability with a mockingbird, reminding us of the invisible barriers we put between ourselves and nature, as well those that keep us from one another. Joan expresses this subtle longing with such simple clarity and candor that we are disarmed and quietened by her words.
If you would like to read Joan’s exquisite poem, please subscribe or purchase the issue here. The issue, our ninth, debuts September 1st with the theme of “birds.”
Joan Leotta has been playing with words on page and on stage since childhood. As a journalist, poet, food writer, short story conjurer, travel writer, and novelist, she has sought to penetrate the mysteries of words on paper. From stages in schools, museums, festivals, and libraries she declaims tales focusing most often on food, family, and strong women. Check out her website full of encouraging words for creatives and follow her on Twitter @joanleottawrite and on Facebook.
