Featured Artist: Carmen Kennedy

Synkroniciti is excited to welcome visual artist Carmen Kennedy from Austin, Texas, with three sumptuous mixed media works: “Dreaming of Mt. Fuji,” “Water is Life” and “Bee Madonna with Fish.” These particular images share a rich blue-green color palette and a reflection on the sacred and ephemeral in life, captured with a sense of wonder and humor. Carmen’s combination of acrylics and ink (and more) creates a detailed, finely crafted look accentuated by the repetition of elements and the influence of collage and iconography.

Carmen Kennedy earned a BFA in Art History and a BA in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Austin. After graduating, she ran an alternative art gallery, (Data Gallery), where visual art, poetry, dance, and music co-mingled. After the gallery experience, she continued to create work when the opportunity arose while supporting herself with a career in technical writing. Now retired, she strives to maintain a child-like curiosity to life and art. Daily walks, bus rides, and staying active with a global community of mail artists help keep the creativity flowing and the inspiration fresh.

Fun fact: She was in a punk rock band and played on the same stage as Janis Joplin.
