“Family” Featured Artist Radoslava Hrabovská

Synkroniciti is thrilled to welcome back Slovak visual artist Radoslava Hrabovská with four images featuring her sons. “My Little Boy…” is a linear graphic made with a burin engraving tool on colored tissue paper–a miracle of delicate touch. We see him from above, from her viewpoint as mother. It’s a reminder of how quickly time passes and how fragile and wonderful youth can be. “My Beloved Son” and “You Are My World” are also portraits from above, this time in bright acrylics. Radka painted her sons playing in the pool. Joy and peace radiates from their faces. “Whenever I paint, draw, illustrate, my children somehow slip into the canvas or image of the illustration. And my sons always guess which one is in the picture.” Finally, “Lullaby…” is a graphic of her son printed on a baby’s shirt, a shirt she wore as a baby and passed down to her boys. It also features a bit of his artwork–some tanks and artillery. “And why? Because we leave our legacy everywhere… DNA… and when I see the direction of the world, I feel that violence and wars are coded in our DNA.” We don’t spend much time thinking about the scenes our children see played out on the street or on the news, but they are working through them before we even talk about it. “When I dry laundry, when I hang clothes, when I iron them… I perceive and experience memories written in pieces of clothing.”

Radoslava (Radka) Mončeková Hrabovská is a Slovak visual artist working with a variety of materials. She lives in the small village of Bojničky, known for its wine. Often people from larger cities and countries think that her address is spelled wrong as Bojničky does not have street names. There are around 500 houses, including apartment buildings. It is this small village with a beautiful environment and a small number of houses that gives inspiration, love for nature and dreams to many.

For Radka, inspiration from the environment is transformed into creation. Connecting the external and internal environments creates an interesting dialogue in images. And sometimes people in the world outside of Bojničky can hear this visual dialogue. Radka has already exhibited in various countries in America, Europe, and Asia.
