Synkroniciti is delighted to welcome back Houston area writer and photographer Jody T. Morse with a triptych of photos celebrating her daughter, titled B-loved. If you have been with Synkroniciti awhile, you might know that the cover of our third issue, “Empathy,” featured this young woman and her horse, so she has a history with us. It’s always wonderful to be able to acknowledge our artists’ families–they are part of the creative journey, too. “In the beginning” shows mother and daughter’s first moments together (outside of the womb) as dad looks on, cut from footage taken at the birthing pool. “Together in the Land of Nod” is a portrait of father (Papa Bear) and daughter napping at the table after Sunday afternoon lunch, a family tradition. The last image, “Mammaw and B,” celebrates the connection between B and her grandmother–one thirteen here and one eighty-three, frozen in a moment of affection and joy. These photos are a testament to how quickly childhood flies and how those who care for us become part of us.

Jody T. Morse (aka JT Morse) is a multifaceted creator, artist, and mother. When she’s not flying through the air with the greatest of ease (on a flying trapeze), you might find her in the barn writing poetry for/with the Timber Haven rescue equines, roadtripping from Texas to Colorado to visit her amazing kiddo, or at a Farmers Market being fifty shades of vegan-hipster-wanna-be-millennial.
