Synkroniciti is delighted to welcome back poet Stacie Eirich, whose evocative pieces began our “Empowered” issue last September. “Prisms” is a powerful poem about her daughter, Sadie, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Curiosity is a strength in times of trouble in that it keeps us reaching for life. A sense of wonder calms us, creating space for healing that is impeded by worry. “Questions mean she finds marvels, that she is a keeper of wonder and life. In her eyes I see the echoing glisten of my own tears, my own terrible fears and magnificent hope.” To set such heart-rending thoughts into verse, to let the words dance rhythmically in the light of our eyes, is a bold and transformative step and Stacie embraces it fully, bitter and sweet. The poem is a testament to Sadie’s reflection of the light of Being and how she uplifts her mother to reflect that light. We wish Sadie and Stacie deep healing and safety. “Prisms” was one of three finalists for our “Curiosity” poetry contest.
