Synkroniciti is pleased to welcome poet Lorraine Jeffery. Her poem, “In the Personals,” is written in response to a classified ad in a Midwestern American newspaper wanting to trade a mink coat for a working car. Her sense of humor and clever use of visual form–our eye is instantly drawn to a triad of questions: Why, Who, Where, which dance along the right margin–spark our curiosity and create suspense. Life is full of these oblique absurdities and Lorraine has the chutzpah to take us along as she investigates one.

Although Lorraine Jeffery earned a MLIS degree in library science, and managed public libraries for years, she states that her real education didn’t take place in a classroom, but rather in her home, where she and her husband raised their ten children (eight diverse adopted children and two biological).
There is an old adage that states that with age comes wisdom but she contends that sometimes age shows up by itself. She has won poetry prizes in national contests and published over 200 poems, essays and short stories in journals and anthologies. Her first poetry book titled, When the Universe Brings Us Back, was self-published in 2022 and her chapbook titled, Tethers, was published by Kelsay Books in 2023.
