“Broken” Featured Artist Peter Motzenbecker

Synkroniciti is happy to welcome back poet Peter Motzenbecker from New York. “Ambivalent Kiss” explores the relationship between love and hate, which is closer than we like to admit. When things go wrong in a relationship, “Pour two glasses of sanguine, red wine,/ and let hatred melt in luxurious fruit./ As tannins press your teeth into your teeth,/ and sugar twists your lips into a smile…”  Peter’s alliterative, rhythmic verse is irresistible and the imagery of dark chocolate and red wine make for delicious poetry, even when it is about the dissolution of a relationship. Sometimes life is going to be bitter, but even bitterness can have an element of satisfaction.

Peter Motzenbecker searches for poems where experience meets thought. Through persistence and serendipity, he occasionally finds one.
