Our first Featured Artist at this Saturday’s Soirée is poet Tamara Madison. Synkroniciti featured four of Tamara’s delightful poems in our “Birds” Issue back in 2021. She painted some colorful avian personalities there: the resplendent house finch feeding his demanding and dowdy mate, the lonely dove with her one-note lament, a feisty group of crows, as well as a particularly bossy hummingbird who bogarts the bird feeder. Watching animals teaches us a lot about ourselves.
Tamara Madison is the author of two full-length poetry collections, Wild Domestic and Moraine (Pearl Editions), and two chapbooks, The Belly Remembers (Pearl Editions) and Along the Fault Line (Picture Show Press). A swimmer and a dog lover, she is a native of the California desert but she has lived and traveled in many places. She is recently retired from teaching English and French in a high school in Los Angeles. Her new collection of poems, Morpheus Dips His Oar, is forthcoming from Sheila-Na-Gig Editions.
